Defrag & Optimize
Disk Defrag 3 allows not only to defragment, but to optimize your disk drives for maximum performance. It will consolidate free space and move system files to the faster part of the disk, when “Defrag & Optimize” mode is selected. These optimization techniques will speed up your disk access time and dramatically slow farther files fragmentation.
Contiguous Free Space
Here is how Disk Defrag merges numerous free space pieces into a large contiguous block. The above screenshot shows a disk map of a fragmented hard disk. The below screenshot was taken just after performing the disk defragmentation and optimization by Disk Defrag 3.
Auto-defrag Mode
You can set Disk Defrag to work automatically in the background while your system is idle. Use a handy auto-defrag icon (in the bottom-left corner) to easily customize and control auto-defragmentation mode. Adjust a suitable CPU and disk usage limit so auto-defrag will not interrupt your work.
Scheduled defragmentation
Disk Defrag scheduler will help to maintain your disk drives on a regular basis. It can be run daily, weekly or monthly, at any time you want. Just set the most suitable time span and select the drives you want to defragment. Allow Disk Defrag to save reports after each run to control its activity.
List of Fragmented Files
Disk Defrag 3 displays all the fragmented files after performing disk analysis. Just move to the “Files” tab under the fragmentation map to look through the list. You can select one or several files to see their clusters’ location on the disk. Right-click on any file to defragment it or add to ignore list.
Customizing Disk Defrag
Use many handy settings to customize your Disk Defrag. It can be minimized to system tray on close and integrated into the Windows Explorer context menu. Choose one of several color themes for the fragmentation map to change the way your Disk Defrag looks.
Defragmentation Algorithms
You can tune Disk Defrag to work even faster by changing its algorithms settings. Select “remove temporary files” and “skip large fragments” options to speed up defragmentation. Another function you can enable is optimization of system files placement. Use it when running “Defrag & Optimize” mode to boost your hard drive performance.
